What is 340B?
In 1992 Congress established the 340B Drug Pricing Program under the Public Health Services Act and administered by the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) to ensure people in need have access to medicines at a reasonable cost.
Healthcare organizations like pharmacies and hospitals operating under 340B are required to transfer their files to HRSA securely using file transfer systems that support SFTP to protect patient privacy and maintain compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
